Summary/Objective
Assist Electric Motor Shop Mechanic with various types of electromechanical equipment. The helper is responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance and repair of electric motors. Will be expected to familiarize with work orders and specifications on simultaneous projects to diagnose and repair various electromechanical equipment. This requires knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, machines, tools including their design, uses repair and maintenance.
Essential Skills & Functions
- Learn to read job cards to determine: job status, work authorizations / limitations, estimate, description of problems, and/ or expected serviceability.
- Disassemble electromechanical equipment noting parts identification, configuration and condition.
- Clean electromechanical equipment assemblies as needed using various methods and steps, including but not limited to: parts washers, steamers, caustic tanks, glass beaders, etc.
- Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electromechanical assemblies, including but not limited to: bearings, brushes, brush holders, motor leads, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutches, clutch rotors, tachs, fans, end shields, etc.
- Assist with retesting reassembled electromechanical equipment for proper output and operation.
- Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
- Assist with testing equipment and other equipmet as needed.
- Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear (especially ear and eye protection).
- Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work duties.
- Keep work area neat and clean as directed by supervisor.
- Assist other mechanics or other service center personnel in skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor or service center manager.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities and repair work performed.
Physical Demands
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to climb, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, kneel, walk, turn, pivot, push, pull, reach overhead and stand for 8 or more hours a day.
- Must display excellent time management skills, be able to work with little or no supervision and communicate regularly.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures indoor/outdoor, depending upon season.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to hear well, naturally or corrected.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, typically 7:00a.m. – 4:00p.m. However, Evenings, Overtime, Saturday and Sunday may be required to meet business demand.
Work Environment
Working environment may include indoor/outdoor sites and will require constant vigilance and care. Frequency in exposure to dust, protective finishes, mechanical parts, electricity, noise and vibration.
Travel
May be required with the use of a company vehicle.
Requirements, Education and Experience
- Must show eligibility to work in U.S.A.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Must be able to effectively communicate.
- Must have basic tools knowledge to complete tasks in this trade.
