In today’s industry, the word millwright is used to define a person who is trained in the installation and maintenance of industrial machinery. Millwrights are responsible for the alignment, assembly, and installation of equipment such as pumps, compressors, conveyors, and other types of machinery used in production. They also perform maintenance and repairs on this equipment. A millwright typically has an Associate’s degree or certificate from a trade school.

DID YOU KNOW?

There’s a lot of fabrication work that goes into being a millwright.

  • Fabrication is the process of manufacturing something from raw materials. It can be done with simple tools or with more advanced machinery.
  • In the case of millwrights, they use their skills to fabricate things for machines, tools, and other equipment used in factories and mills.
  • Much of this fabrication work is done in workshops, using metalworking tools and machines. It’s a skilled trade that takes years to learn, but the results are worth it – Millwrights play an important role in keeping our factories running smoothly!
